Cotillion History

In 1997 & 1988 J. D. Kellum and Jeff Paramore created the first Atlanta Cotillion event to provide a creative and unique opportunity to raise awareness as well as funds for the HIV/AIDS community.

After a three year hiatus, in 2002, a committed group of volunteers, led by John McGuirk, reorganized the Atlanta Cotillion and created the Debutante Ball in the rich traditions of the south to maximize the fundraising potential of this unique event. In 2004, the leadership responsibilities were passed to Edward Holifield, Harrison Perry and Greg Whitmire where fundraising history was made raising over $120k. The years 2005 through 2007 welcomed growth and increased fundraising success with Co-Chairs Edward Holifield and Greg Whitmire. Edward Holifield assumed his final year in the leadership role of the organization in 2008 and welcomed Bryon Brown and Darrell Burke as Vice-Chairs. Bryon Brown and Darrell Burke continued to serve as event Co-Chairs in 2009 and 2010. In 2011, Darrell Burke assumed the role of Chair followed by  Ronnie Mallett  in 2012. Darrell Burke resumed the Chair position in 2013 repositioning the affair as “Atlanta Cotillion Presents” - Cirque de Nuit. In 2014  "Cirque de Nuit en Rouge" is being chaired by former Queen David Janke.

In 2008 AID Atlanta honored Atlanta Cotillion for its unprecedented financial contributions by placing them in the Founders Society. An elite group of donors recognized for their financial impact to the continuing mission of AID Atlanta.

Former Queens include Aric Castleberry 2002; Harrison Perry 2003; Steve Dondero 2004; Jody Woodruff 2005; Juan Pablo Zuluaga 2006; Rodney Hinote 2007; Jeffrey Hopper 2008; Michael Lammons 2009, Joshua Bettis 2010, JD Kellum 2011 and in 2012 David Janke was crowned in the final year of the Debutante format of Atlanta Cotillion.
